Persecution: Beliefs and Attitudes Towards Them

Beliefs should be a basic human right, not something that people die or want to kill over.
Yet, some people believe that it is their right and duty to "protect" their religion by either converting people or taking it to the extreme and executing "the enemy".
Persecution has been going on for thousands of years because people have certain views on religion and can't seem to understand and respect that every single person has a different perspective.
This can cause massive societal conflicts, such as war, hate crimes, and death.
Persecution can be seen as a form of discrimination and can do so much damage to society because it can lead people to believe that they have no right to be "different" or be who they were created to be. This leads to fear of being found out and forced to change or die.
It's truly sad, especially when people want to have their own beliefs and opinions that make sense to them, even if they're the only ones who have those beliefs. They should have the right to have those beliefs.
People should not be afraid to have their views and beliefs of religion or anything else for that matter.
Unfortunately, the reality is that people are deeply afraid to share their beliefs and values because people will try to convince them that they're wrong and that they need to change.
I am one of those people, and although I try not to share my beliefs and opinions with people who I know will not agree, it can be scary and challenging because my beliefs make me who I am, and I don't want to be forced to change or worse.
I haven't been persecuted, but I have been looked down upon. People have brought it upon themselves to try to "save my soul" and convert me. It's a truly terrible feeling to be so scared to have beliefs that are so different.
Persecution is a horrible way for society to feel like it has power over the beliefs that people have.
The worst part about it is that people turn their heads and pretend that it doesn't exist when there are wars and human life is being destroyed because of it, because of religion, even though it's supposed to bring peace.
The idea that persecution is a reasonable thing to do to other humans is outrageous, and religion should never be a reason to kill. In fact, it’s a crime against humanity worldwide.
However, this does not seem to matter to people who are ”extremely passionate” about their religion or can’t live with others having a different point of view.
Don’t people know how boring the world would be if every single person was the same and had the exact same beliefs? What would be the point in that?
We built America to escape persecution, but what about the rest of the world? What about the folks in our country who really don’t agree with others?
I don't know if this is something that can ever be solved. Probably not because there are so many beliefs and religions, but maybe people will get tired of fighting over who's right and who's wrong. Maybe we can just let each other be.
